About the apprenticeship

The Central Transport Services Team at Cardiff Council is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 2) Fleet Business Support Assistant based at Central Transport Services, Coleridge Road Depot CF11 8BT, to contribute to their Service helping them to deliver administration and management of the Council’s fleet of over 1400 assets comprising cars, vans, HGV’s and plant equipment.

Location:Central Transport Services, Coleridge Road Depot CF11 8BT

Hours: Full time. 37. hours per week

Pay:£24,413 per annum

Apprenticeship: Level 2 Digital Skills for Business

Key Duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service by telephone, email, face to face or online
  • Learn to undertake general office administration in a digital environment using software applications such as Word, Excel and our specialised Fleet Management system
  • Develop an understanding of road transport legislation and fleet / HGV operation

Essential:

  • You must live with in the boundaries of Cardiff
  • You must not hold a degree, graduates may be eligible to apply for other roles within Cardiff Council
  • GCSE Grade G or above in Maths or Essential Skills Wales Level 2 in Application of Number or equivalent.
  • GCSE Grade G or above in English (and/or Welsh) or. Essential Skills Wales Level 2 in Communication or equivalent.
  • Able to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet device

Desirable:

  • Demonstrate an interest in the advertised role and in the work of the team.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the work of the Council.
  • Examples of work experience gained whether voluntary or paid in any role in any sector.
  • Welsh Language, or other community language skill at any level e.g. basic greetings or more advanced.
