About the apprenticeship
The Complex Needs Service team is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice Day Service Support Worker (Level 2) based at the Day Service Centre in Pengam Road, Tremorfa, CF24 2RR.
As an apprentice will contribute to the Service helping them to deliver support to adults with a learning disability who have complex support needs. People are supported by the service to access a wide range of valued activities and opportunities within the local community to meet their identified outcomes.
Cardiff Council delivers over 700 different services to residents of Cardiff, visitors, and businesses across the city. As a local government organisation, the customers depend on them to deliver the essential services, every day. Whether employed in a customer facing, technical, trade or support role, the employees help them to make a difference to the communities. Location: Day Service Centre in Pengam Road, Tremorfa, CF24 2RR.
Hours: Full time. 37 hours per week
Pay:£24,796 per annum
Apprenticeship: Level 2 Health and Social Care
Key Duties:
- To learn how to support service users in a person-centred way to enable them to
- achieve the outcomes outlined in the Day Service Plan.
- To carry out duties as agreed with the Day Service Officer, using the resources available at the service base and in the community.
- To communicate with service users, their families and colleagues inside and outside of the Day Service.
- To liaise with families/carers under the direction of the Day Service Officer.
- To liaise with other services as and when this is needed by service users under the direction of the Day Service Officer.
- To attend to the personal and physical needs of service users where necessary in a respectful manner.
- To foster service users equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities.
- To carry out tasks agreed at supervision within the agreed time span.
- To maintain records and help compile reports.
- To attend staff meetings and staff development programmes.
- To deal with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Essential:
- You must live with in the boundaries of Cardiff
- You must not hold a degree, graduates may be eligible to apply for other roles within Cardiff Council
- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths or Essential Skills Wales Level 2 in Application of Number or equivalent.
- GCSE Grade G or above in English (and/or Welsh) or. Essential Skills Wales Level 2 in Communication or equivalent.
- Able to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet device
Desirable:
- Demonstrate an interest in the advertised role and in the work of the team.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the work of the Council.
- Examples of work experience gained whether voluntary or paid in any role in any sector.
- Welsh Language, or other community language skill at any level e.g. basic greetings or more advanced.
