The directors of one of the capital’s most sustainable hair salons found that Apprentices are a cut above!

Tiffany Hall, who leads Amaryllis with Rebecca Ryce, in Cardiff’s leafy suburb of Pontcanna, said their Apprentices were naturals with combs, crops and colouring.

Amaryllis, who have been working with ACT for the past four years are not only passionate about hair, but they also care deeply about the environment, on both a global and local level. They were the first salon in Wales to exclusively use Devines eco hair products, and work with the Green Salon Collective to recycle salon waste.

The in-demand salon have benefited from the fully-funded Apprenticeship scheme, and with the support of ACT’s Assessors have built up fully-qualified staff members.

Tiffany said Apprenticeships have hugely benefitted the business, when it comes to levelling up staff members.

She explained: “Apprenticeships are the backbone of any salon, and we have had two staff members who are now fully qualified.”

We receive financial support and have great Assessors that come to complete assessments with our Apprentices, in order for them to pass their NVQ.

Now Amaryllis is going from strength to strength, with the newly-skilled team members making a huge impression on clients.

“The Apprentices are growing their own clientele and are a fabulous asset to the salon, which is beneficial to our business,” Tiffany said.

“We couldn’t be without our Apprentices, we love seeing them grow and develop.”

The Director would “definitely” recommend ACT and the Apprenticeship programme to other businesses, as “it’s a fantastic way to fill skills gaps!”

Tiffany believes as long as businesses invest in their Apprentices through regular training and ongoing support, then it can be of great benefit to any business.

She added: “We hugely need Apprentices in our industry!”

Apprenticeships are an ideal way to upskill your current workforce as well as a cost-effective way to attract new talent.
