Apprenticeships are work-based learning programmes that enable businesses to upskill their workforce with nationally-recognised qualifications. It has been well established that Apprenticeships increase productivity, help retain loyal employees and save businesses money.

Cwm Taf University Health Board (UHB) have worked with ACT since 2006 and enrol their staff on a range of programmes, from Clinical Healthcare to Business Administration.

Helen Evans, Learning and Development Co-ordinator at Cwm Taf UHB shares her top three reasons why they chose to engage, inspire and grow with Apprenticeships:

1. Bespoke programmes

“We have several different Apprenticeship frameworks that our learners embark on. For us, due to some health and safety issues involved in healthcare working environments, ACT work with us to offer bespoke and flexible programmes that allow for this.”

2. Positive impact on services

“Our Apprenticeship programmes have in fact had a direct positive impact on services: in one particular area we have reduced waiting times from 28 weeks to 8 weeks for a specific procedure.

“Administration staff have said that they are more motivated and are bringing new ideas into the department as a direct result of their ACT Apprenticeship. One staff member in particular said she was attracted to the job because it was advertised as an Apprenticeship. She is really thriving in her job and progressing well with her Apprenticeship. Of course, she’s supported very well by ACT too.”

3. Fully Funded

“I would absolutely encourage other companies to take advantage of ACT’s fully funded Apprenticeships. It has been excellent for us and our staff.

“ACT are an excellent company who also provide excellent customer care and keep us well informed of the progress of our learners’. Communication is the key and they have it right.”
