About this course

Our Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing enables learners to launch and develop their careers as hairdressers, barbers, wigmakers and salon managers.

This Apprenticeship is suitable for candidates working in a hairdressing role in a professional salon. Learners will develop their skills and gain a qualification in the workplace.

Learners will be required to undertake four mandatory units and at least two optional units to complete the qualification:

Mandatory units include:

  • Style and finish hair
  • Set and dress hair
  • Cutting hair using basic techniques
  • Colour and lighten hair
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

When you agree to undertake an Apprenticeship, you may be required to complete Essential Skills qualifications, depending on your previous qualifications, the Apprenticeship level you are completing and your own particular needs.

The qualification will run over 14 months, depending on initial assessment results and learners will be required to attend The Salon at ACT once a month to participate in skills development workshops.

Upon enrolment, learners are allocated an industry experienced assessor. Throughout the qualification, the assessor will visit the learner at their workplace once a month in order to gather evidence of competence through planned observations.

Upon Completion, successful learners can progress onto our Level 3 Hairdressing Apprenticeship. Learners are supported and encouraged throughout their qualification to reach their full potential in their chosen industry.

Future employment opportunities include:

  • Colour Artist
  • Media Stylist
  • Salon Owner/Manager
