ACT, Wales’ largest training provider, has once again been named as one of the UK’s top employers. Ranked 52nd in the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for 2020 list, ACT has also secured a Best Companies 2 Star ‘outstanding’ accreditation for its commitment to workplace engagement.
Split into four categories, big companies, mid companies, small companies and not for profit organisations, Best Companies to Work for List celebrates and showcases the very best in workplace engagement; it is the longest-running and most respected of its kind.
Commenting on the award, Andrew Cooksley MBE, Chief Executive Officer at ACT Training said, “We are absolutely delighted to once again have made it into the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work for List in 2020. The happiness and wellbeing of our staff is hugely important to us, so much so that it’s one of our key strategic aims as a company. We deliver exceptional training programmes to thousands of learners a year and this is only possible thanks to our incredible staff who always go above and beyond. Being recognised as caring for our fantastic staff, as much as for the people we strive to help, is a huge achievement and an accolade that means a tremendous amount to us.”
Jonathan Austin, CEO & Founder of Best Companies added, “I would like to congratulate ACT on your achievement. Best Companies have been producing the accreditation standard since 2006 to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. Organisations like ACT have continued to focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that this is a best company to work for.”
The Best Companies ranking was achieved following direct feedback provided by ACT employees focussed around their manager and team, personal growth, wellbeing, giving something back, leadership, the company as a whole and fair deal for employees.
ACT are committed to enhancing and supporting the wellbeing of all its employees through a number of initiatives. They have an in-house counselling service that supports employees with issues that may be affecting their work and wellbeing. They also promote a culture of coaching across ACT, where managers throughout the organisation are trained in coaching techniques enabling them to better support their employees and improve their wellbeing. In addition, they have also introduced a wellbeing hub; a multi-purpose space that houses the ACT wellbeing team and pod spaces for employees to work quietly alone or one to one with their learners.
This is the sixth time ACT has achieved Best Companies status having made it on to the Best Companies to Work for list in 2019, 2018, 2015, 2014 and 2012.
