Over 100 children from Ysgol Pwll Coch in Cardiff enjoyed a trip to the Celtic Manor Christmas Kingdom thanks to the support of Barclays and Wales leading training provider ACT.
The children aged from 9 to 11 enjoyed a range of festivities and refreshments including ice skating and a chance to meet Santa and his reindeers.
Jason Llewellyn from Barclays said: “We happened to be talking with our customers Celtic Manor and ACT and mentioned how it would be nice to give a Christmas treat to a local school. ACT already had a relationship with Ysgol Pwll Coch so were delighted to offer the opportunity. Barclays has recently launched a major new programme ‘LifeSkills‘, a curriculum linked education programme which aims to equip one million young people with the skills they need for work by 2015, so any new relationships we can build with local schools is most welcome.”
Jan Jones, Head Teacher at Ysgol Pwll Coch said: “The children had a fantastic time meeting Santa and speeding around the splendid ice rink. I am very grateful to Barclays, ACT and Celtic Manor for their support and for volunteering their time and resources. It was a wonderful and fitting way of recognizing all the hard work of the children throughout the year.”
