Drive is a not-for-profit social care organisation that supports people to live the life that matters to them. They are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Finance Apprentice to join their friendly Finance Team in Nantgarw.

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience in accounting and finance while working towards a fully funded AAT qualification. You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues, develop valuable workplace skills and gain real responsibility from day one.

Location: Unit 8 Cefn Coed, Cardiff CF15 7QQ

Hours: Full time. 37.5 hours per week

Pay: £8 per hour

Apprenticeship: AAT Accountancy

Key Duties:

The Finance Apprentice will work within Drive’s Finance Team, supporting the delivery of an efficient, accurate and customer-focused finance service across the organisation while studying towards a recognised AAT qualification.

Main duties will include:

  • Processing invoices and financial transactions accurately.
  • Supporting bookkeeping and accounting records.
  • Assisting with purchase and sales ledger activities.
  • Supporting bank reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Helping to process colleague expenses and finance-related administration.
  • Using Microsoft Excel and finance systems to maintain records and produce reports.
  • Supporting budgeting, management reporting and month-end activities as knowledge develops.
  • Maintaining accurate records and handling information confidentially in line with Drive policies and GDPR requirements.

The apprentice will work closely with experienced finance professionals, gaining practical workplace experience across a range of finance functions whilst developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a successful career in finance and accounting.

Essential:

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • A-Level, BTEC or equivalent qualification in a business-related subject
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • An interest in finance, accounting or business.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and data.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous customer service, administration, office or volunteering experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel or spreadsheets would be advantageous.
  • Welsh language skills welcomed but not essential.
