Not sure what career path to choose?

Our Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) Engagement strand is an ideal starting point if you are not sure what you want to do or need some support understanding what your options are. Our Learning Coaches will support you and develop an individual learning plan specifically for you and your needs.

Your learning plan will include the following:

  • Center-based learning opportunities
  • Short work trials with a range of employers
  • Trips and experiences
  • Community projects
  • Voluntary work
  • Wellbeing-focused activities
  • Guest speakers

On this strand, you will:

  • Earn a training allowance of up to £60 per week
  • Receive a meal allowance of up to £19.50 a week
  • Receive support with travel costs

There are no minimum hours of attendance per week. However, the amount of training allowance you receive will depend on the number of hours you participate.

Whilst you’re on the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme you’ll also build up annual leave each month without it affecting your training allowance.

With the Engagement strand, our goal is to expose you to a wide range of engaging enrichment activities to help build your confidence and help you discover what you like and what you are good at.

Once you complete this strand you will move on to the Advancement strand.

“Training on the job is such a great opportunity and the long-term rewards are great. You don’t need to pay your college fees, there’s job security and the things you will learn about in college will be applicable to your job and vice versa.”
William Wallace - Engagement Learner
“I was so nervous joining ACT at first, but since I’ve started the JGW+ programme I’m so much more confident. I feel like I’m back to my own self before I was bullied. I’ve become that cheery, ‘can do’ person again. ACT really is a safe space for young people to learn and grow.”
Kavan Cox - Advancement Learner
