This Highfield accredited course provides participants with the skills to manage life-threatening emergencies, as well as how to manage common paediatric illnesses and injuries. Topics include basic life support, choking casualties along with illnesses such as sickle cell anaemia and meningitis.

- Recognising and responding to breathing problems.
- Managing unconscious casualties.
- Treating common childhood illnesses, including sickle cell anaemia and meningitis.
- Recognising and managing allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
- Dealing with bleeding, burns, and fractures.
- Managing shock and seizures.
- Recording and reporting incidents in line with legal requirements.

This qualification is primarily aimed at those who wish to develop the essential knowledge and skills to become a paediatric first aider, but is also useful for anyone with the responsibility for caring for infants and children.
This course is assessed by a a 30-question multiple choice assessment to be completed at the end of the training in addition to practical demonstration assessments each day.
Upon completion of this curse you will gain a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. This qualification is required in order to be a first aider in child-based work settings
