Cardiff-based renewable energy company, Eco2 Ltd, has teamed up with Wales’ leading training provider ACT to provide a work placement within its growing team.

Matthew Lewis, 27, from Cardiff, has joined the Asset Management team as an Administrative Assistant, working two days a week on a six-month placement. He will provide administrative support to the Asset Management department, helping to look after Eco2’s operational portfolio and a number of third party assets.

Kate Jones, HR Manager at Eco2 Ltd said, “We are very pleased to welcome Matthew to our team and are grateful for the qualities he brings to Eco2.

“As a company, we are passionate about supporting the growth and development of our employees and we look forward to working with Matthew during his time with us. We also hope to work with ACT on future opportunities within the organisation.”

Matthew Lewis, who is currently learning Spanish, said, “I am very grateful and excited to have this opportunity, and am really benefiting from my time here at Eco2.”

Mr Lewis is on an ACT’s Work Ready training programme, which aims to support local people who are unemployed by increasing their chances of finding regular and long-term employment, by building skills and confidence, helping people to achieve new qualifications and receive tailored training.

Andrew Cooksley, ACT’s Managing Director said: “To hear such stories like that of Matthew, who before linking up with Eco2 had struggled in the employment market, is really encouraging to ACT Training staff who work hard to provider learners with the pathways they need to succeed.

He continued: “Eco2 has provided Matthew with a great opportunity and I look forward to hearing how our partnership with Eco2 grows.”

ACT’s Work Ready programme is open to anyone who is over the age of 18, unemployed
