About the apprenticeship
The HR Apprenticeship Team is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) to contribute to the HR Service. Although this role will be based at County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW, it will involve working online from home and/or a mix of home and office (hybrid) working.
The HR Apprenticeship Team provide a range of engagement programmes including opportunities for young people to gain paid and unpaid work experience across the Council to support their future employment goals. The Apprenticeship Team are the central point for customer enquiries, and contacts teams across the Council to secure unpaid work experience placements. The team also support employees at all grades to access apprenticeship qualifications to support their professional development and helps teams across the Council to create new paid Apprentice and Trainee roles for recruitment. The team also organise and attend engagement events across the Cardiff communities to promote the varied career paths and Cardiff Council as employer at schools, colleges, universities, job fairs and other events.

Pay:£24,413 per annum
Apprenticeship: Level 3 Digital Skills for Business
Key Duties:
- Respond to internal and external customer enquiries.
- Provide accurate and effective administration to support the sourcing and creation of unpaid work experience opportunities and other engagement programmes or services provided by the team.
- Data Entry, recording information to monitor the service and produce data and charts for reports.
- Record online and on-site work experience placements accurately and check documents provided to us by services teams hosting placements are correct.
- Develop a network of professional contacts.
- Provide information to internal customers and members of the public.
- Assist with administration relating to organising and attending events.
- Securely file electronic documents related to placements and ensure safe handling and storage of personal information and data.
- Using a variety of IT applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and other organisational systems.
- Attend events with the team to promote Cardiff Council as employer to attendees.
- To support the HR Apprenticeship Team with a range of tasks.
- Develop a general understanding of the role and function of HR, including policies and processes, and the work of other HR teams.
- Depending on progress, and skills and interests brought to the role, there may be opportunities to contribute to drafting of articles, artwork or social media content.
Essential:
- You must live with in the boundaries of Cardiff
- You must not hold a degree, graduates may be eligible to apply for other roles within Cardiff Council
- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths or Essential Skills Wales Level 2 in Application of Number or equivalent.
- GCSE Grade C or above in English (and/or Welsh) or. Essential Skills Wales Level 2 in Communication or equivalent.
- Able to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet device
Desirable:
- Demonstrate an interest in the advertised role and in the work of the team.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the work of the Council.
- Examples of work experience gained whether voluntary or paid in any role in any sector.
- Welsh Language, or other community language skill at any level e.g. basic greetings or more advanced.
